Part I

Mementous

The sun sets on another Bonestock weekend. The inescapable vibe and peaceful energy still lingers from the evening's resounding success. This was by far the best one yet. More folks than ever turned out for a magnificent event that we’ve come to look forward to all summer. Even a visit by the people with Blue Lights could not dampen the spirits of all involved. I’m proud that no one gave them any trouble and they left the hill empty-handed and disappointed.

The sounds of the '70s greeted the afternoon with Mike Sharron spinning vinyl records live onstage. Shuffled iPod playlists played the rest of the day until the sounds of In This Century began the evening performances. A gem of a band right here in Northfield, they kicked things off with a tight set of remarkable tunes. We're sorry the folks that arrived later on missed their set.

Performing a third time at Bonestock, Swale followed with a stunning two-set gig, returning after a break with a Rhythm & Blues Review that was truly outstanding! Our congratulations to Eric and Amanda on their recent wedding. Best of luck and all our positive energies go out to you both.

And rounding out the evening was a sublime headline performance by Brixton Guns, preceded with a short acoustic set by Poncho. Hats off to you all. We are honored to have you on our stage and it warms the heart to know how much you love our little playground. You are welcome anytime.

Part II

Decorous

Bonestock is over for another year, but not the high praise for all who helped organize and oversee the event. This year's biggest shout out is to Tom, Mike S, and Mike H. Their efforts went beyond merely maintaining the grounds — they transformed the Hill into the absolute best condition of all the Bonestock years. In addition to the hours of weekly mowing and months of cutting wood for the pile, they built a new recreation area complete with slate wall and stairs, a water fountain, and raised a new flag pole. They were up on the Hill the entire week leading up to BS‘07. Thank you Tom for the use of the land, for providing dinner — and all the ladies thank you for the potty.

The second loudest shout is to Erik for his diligence working out logistics of the event, booking the bands, coordinating arrivals, directing the Bone Hill crew, fostering care of others and providing an environment of good will without personal gain or reward.

Additional thanks to Josh Mayo helping with the rec project; Thor for making and maintaining the website; Mike S and Thor for the T-shirt design and tie-dyes; Ed Smith's stagehand presence and subtle security measures; Erik and Mike Young for this year's Bonestock home brew; Ximena's design and printing the wonderful home brew labels, and for composing the Rules of Engagement; Dom and Tyke for bartending the eve. We simply could not have done it without the sweat and effort of these dedicated people. Not to mention the Staties and Townies for making sure everyone was of legal drinking age.

Supporting the Bone Hill crew... thank you Pete Clark for preparing some tasty food for all to eat. The best group of ladies making the details count — Koi & Tara & Niki… thanks for the salads and encouragement. (P.S.: the homemade marshmallows were key!) Thank you Deerfield & Co. in Waitsfield for screenprinting the event T-shirts, and Chouinard's for use of their dye equipment. Also thanks to Vermont Food Bank, P&P Septic Service, WCAX, and WallGoldfinger, Inc.

Ximena… thanks for all the details you helped cover and keeping me going all these weeks. You helped in so many ways — not least of which was helping me relax and have the most fun I’ve had at these gatherings. Welcome to the Hill Crew!

Again, we want to say thank you to everyone who made the trek up the Hill to enjoy the weekend and for helping to create memories — hoping we see you again next year.

Excelsior!
